Quick answer: The Pirate Shop is a rare Treasure Hunt prize you can roll by opening chests in Fortnite Battle Royale. Win it and you get two activations, one for 2026 (use it by December 15, 2026) and one for 2027 (January 1 to December 15, 2027). Each activation lets you claim everything sold for V-Bucks in the Item Shop for free for 14 days. Real-money offers, gifting and Battle Pass levels are excluded. Current as of the v43.00 Treasure Hunters update on November 1, 2026.

Fortnite’s Treasure Hunters mini-season went live this morning, and the most talked about feature is not Luffy or the Gum-Gum Fruit. It is the Pirate Shop, a rare chest prize that turns the whole Item Shop free for two weeks. Dataminers found the strings overnight, and players were already pulling it from chests within hours of launch. Here is what it does, how to get it and the fine print.

What is the Fortnite Pirate Shop?

The in-game description reads: “Activate the Pirate Shop to plunder the Fortnite Item Shop for two weeks from time of activation. While the Pirate Shop is activated, items sold for V-Bucks in the Fortnite Item Shop will be available to claim for free.”

In practice, that means every outfit, emote, pickaxe, glider and Jam Track priced in V-Bucks can be claimed at no cost while your timer is running. Anything you claim stays in your locker after the 14 days end.

How to get Pirate Shop access

  • Open chests in Battle Royale. Treasure Hunters adds Treasure Hunt prizes that can roll when you open a chest. Prizes include outfits, cosmetics and, very rarely, Pirate Shop access.
  • Play in a squad. According to GameRant and several players who tested it, Treasure Hunt prizes are awarded to the whole squad, so if one teammate finds the Pirate Shop, everyone in the party gets it.
  • Expect it to be rare. Epic has not shared the odds. Player snowslept, one of the first to win it, said it took roughly 150 chests across three matches.
  • Prize window: GameRant reports the prize can drop from November 1 to December 5, the last day of the Treasure Hunters season.

You get two activations, not one

  • Pirate Shop Access (2026): activate any time until December 15, 2026.
  • Pirate Shop Access (2027): activate any time from January 1 to December 15, 2027.
  • Each activation runs for 14 days from the moment you turn it on, so you can save the second one for a Shop you really want.

How to activate the Pirate Shop

  1. Go to the Item Shop tab in the Fortnite lobby.
  2. Select Plunder the Item Shop in the bottom right.
  3. Choose Activate Now. Your 14-day timer starts immediately.

Tip: check the Shop schedule first. Epic’s own roadmap puts Luffy, Nami and Usopp in the Shop now, A$AP Rocky on November 5, Zoro, Sanji and the Chopper Sidekick on November 7, Lil Uzi Vert on November 12, Buggy on November 13, and Kasane Teto and Cap’n Hatsune Miku on November 14. A November 7 activation would cover all of those except the Straw Hats who are already out.

What the Pirate Shop does not cover

  • Real-money offers, such as Starter Packs and Quest Packs.
  • Gifting items to friends.
  • Battle Pass levels and pass rewards.
  • Sidekicks you already own.
  • Transfers: the access is tied to your account and cannot be passed to a friend.

What we still do not know

Epic has not published a blog post about the Pirate Shop or shared drop rates, so details could change with a hotfix. We will update this guide if Epic adjusts the prize or the dates.
