Quick answer: Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition is out today, Nov 5, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2 for $39.99 on the eShop. Unlike the cloud-only Switch 1 version, it is a native Switch 2 build made by Eidos-Montréal. It includes the full game, all previously released digital content and 5 new 1980s glam rock outfits that are exclusive to the Encore Edition. The download is 46.3 GB. Current as of Nov 5, 2026.
Eidos-Montréal’s Marvel adventure has finally landed on a Nintendo console as a game that actually runs on the hardware. The 2021 original reached the first Switch only as a cloud version that streams from a server, so this Encore Edition is the first time Nintendo players can run Star-Lord’s story natively, docked or handheld. Here is what you get for $39.99.
Native on Switch 2, not cloud
According to the official announcement, Eidos-Montréal developed the Switch 2 version internally, and Plaion Partners handles distribution. It supports TV, Tabletop and Handheld modes. Gematsu reported the performance targets when the game was announced in September:
- TV mode, Quality: 1440p at 30 fps
- TV mode, Performance: 1080p at 40 fps
- Handheld mode: 30 fps
5 exclusive glam rock outfits
The headline extra is a new outfit for each Guardian: Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot all get 1980s glam rock looks, inspired by the same era as the Star-Lord band album from the game. The press release says these outfits are “available only in the Encore Edition,” so they are not coming to the PS5, Xbox or PC versions. They sit alongside the roughly 50 in-game outfits already in the game.
Mouse and gyro controls
The Encore Edition supports Switch 2’s built-in mouse controls for menus and aiming. Gyro controls let you tilt the controller to steer the Milano through space and to guide Peter while sliding or during zero gravity sections.

Why it is worth a look
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy first launched on Oct 26, 2021, and won Best Narrative at The Game Awards 2021. It is a single player, story first action game with a soundtrack of more than 30 licensed 80s hits, and it plays well in short sessions, which suits a handheld. At $39.99 with every past add-on included, this is an easy pick for Switch 2 owners who skipped it on other consoles. It also launches the same day as Stellar Blade on Switch 2, so check your free space if you plan to grab both.
