Quick answer: Steam Scream V Fest, Valve’s Halloween horror sale, started Monday, October 26 at 12 PM CT (10 AM PT) and ends Monday, November 2 at 12 PM CT (10 AM PT). Our top picks: The Quarry for $5.99 (90% off), SOMA for $5.99, Amnesia: The Bunker for $4.99 and Outlast for $1.49. A few publisher discounts, like Capcom’s, run a day or more past the fest.

Scream V is the fifth edition of Steam’s horror fest, and this year Valve narrowed it to actual horror games, plus anything built around Halloween itself. That makes the sale page easier to dig through, but it’s still thousands of discounts. We checked the store page of every game below about an hour after the sale opened and kept the ones with strong reviews and real savings.

All prices are in US dollars as of October 26 at about 1 PM CT. Steam Deck notes are Valve’s own ratings from each store page.

Best horror deals under $5

  • Outlast: $1.49 (90% off $14.99). The asylum camcorder game that made running and hiding the default for a decade. Playable on Deck.
  • Outlast 2: $1.99 (90% off $19.99). Grab both for $3.48 total.
  • Pumpkin Jack: $2.09 (93% off $29.99). Not scary at all. It’s a Halloween platformer, which is why it qualifies, and it’s the biggest percentage cut on this list. Deck Verified.
  • Amnesia: The Dark Descent: $3.99 (80% off $19.99). Playable on Deck.
  • Amnesia: The Bunker: $4.99 (80% off $24.99). One monster, a dying generator and item spots that change every run. Deck Verified.

Story horror for one sitting or a weekend

  • The Quarry: $5.99 (90% off $59.99). Supermassive’s camp slasher is the best value here, and it also has couch co-op. Valve rates it Unsupported on Deck, so play it on a PC.
  • SOMA: $5.99 (80% off $29.99). Frictional’s underwater sci-fi story is the one people still bring up years later. Deck Verified.
  • Still Wakes the Deep: $8.74 (75% off $34.99). A 1970s oil rig in a North Sea storm, about six hours long. Playable on Deck.
  • Little Nightmares II: $9.89 (67% off $29.99). Steam lists this offer ending November 5, so it outlasts the fest. Deck Verified.
  • Mouthwashing: $7.79 (40% off $12.99). The smallest discount here, but it’s short and very good. Offer ends November 3. Deck Verified.

Co-op horror for your group chat

  • Sons of the Forest: $8.39 (72% off $29.99). Survival horror for up to eight. Unsupported on Deck.
  • The Outlast Trials: $11.99 (70% off $39.99). Deck Verified.
  • Phasmophobia: $13.99 (30% off $19.99). A small cut, but four friends hunting ghosts is still the best Halloween night on this list. Playable on Deck.

Resident Evil

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is $7.99 (60% off $19.99), and it’s the cheapest way into the Baker house. The Resident Evil 2, 4 and Village deals we listed in our weekend PC deals roundup are still the same today: $7.99, $9.99 and $9.99. Capcom’s store pages show these offers ending November 3, a day after the fest.

Before you buy

Sale times are 10 AM Pacific on both ends. US clocks fall back on November 1, but Central time moves with Pacific, so the end is still 12 PM CT. We didn’t include price history, since we couldn’t check it on SteamDB today. Buy from Steam directly and skip the key resellers.

Want free horror instead? Sker Ritual and Home are free on Epic until October 29. For the in-game side of the season, our guide to every big Halloween event in games has the end dates.
