STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is out now in North America. Spike Chunsoft announced the launch on October 29, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The release revisits STEINS;GATE, which was originally released in 2009 for Xbox 360. This version features completely revamped visuals and new narrative content, and it is developed by MAGES.
What is new: the Gamma Worldline
The headline addition is a new Gamma Worldline, a storyline that was not depicted in the original 2009 release. In STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT, it is presented as a new route.
In this worldline, protagonist Rintaro Okabe finds himself cast into a new world after enduring countless ordeals. Here, the time machine was never completed, and D-Mails, the messages capable of altering the past, do not exist.
That setup matters for returning players. A remake with only a visual refresh would be a reason to revisit a classic. A whole new route is a reason to play it again even if you already know the original story, because the Gamma Worldline changes the premise Okabe is working from.
Editions and release dates
The physical Standard Edition and SteelBook Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5 include a sticker as a first-print-run bonus.
The Digital Deluxe Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5 includes the game, the STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT VISUAL COLLECTION digital art book, the soundtrack, STEINS;GATE 15th LIVE ONE WORLD live event footage with English subtitles, and STEINS;GATE Octet of Shifting Space.
Physical editions in the UK and EU are scheduled to launch on November 3, 2026. According to Spike Chunsoft, digital editions are available now. Check the shop in your region for digital edition details, since the announcement does not list prices.
Install the day one patch first
Spike Chunsoft also issued a day one patch warning that players should not skip. Install all patches before playing. The announcement states that installing the patches at a later time will delete all save data.
If you are picking the game up on launch day, update before you start your first session, not after a few hours of play.
What it means for players
STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is a straightforward launch for anyone who missed the original or wants a modern version of it, and the Gamma Worldline gives longtime fans a new story thread to follow. The platforms cover the current Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles, so most players will not need new hardware to play it.
