Quick answer: GTA 6 does not come with a paper map in the box. On November 19, launch day, Rockstar will post a free printable GTA 6 cover art poster and map of Leonida on its official site. A double-sided physical version arrives at the Rockstar Store shortly after launch for $0.99 on its own, or free with any Rockstar Store purchase. Current as of November 3, 2026.
Grand Theft Auto has shipped with a fold-out map for more than two decades, and GTA 6 is keeping the tradition alive in a new way. Rockstar Games confirmed on November 3, in the same announcement that moved digital pre-loading up to November 10, that the Leonida map will be a download and a separate store item instead of a pack-in.
How to get the GTA 6 map of Leonida
- Free printable (November 19): Rockstar says it will add an official printable GTA 6 cover art poster and map of Leonida to its official site as a free digital download on launch day.
- Physical poster ($0.99): a double-sided physical version will be sold at the Rockstar Store “shortly after launch” for $0.99.
- Free gift option: the same physical poster is free with any purchase from the Rockstar Store.
Rockstar has not given an exact on-sale date, print size, or shipping details for the physical version yet, so check the Rockstar Store after November 19 before you order.
Why fans are talking about it
The map insert is a series tradition. GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas came with fold-out posters that had a map on one side and game art on the other, and GTA 4 and GTA 5 shipped with double-sided maps. For many players, unfolding the map was the first thing they did after opening the case.
GTA 6 changes that because physical copies on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are code-in-box versions. Rockstar says those should reach retailers from November 12, and its announcement does not mention a map inside that package. As GamesRadar+ pointed out, the bonus that used to be free with every boxed copy is now a $1 add-on unless you are already buying merch.
The free printable softens the blow. If you have a decent printer, or a local print shop, you can have the map on your wall on launch day without spending anything extra.
Our take
A $0.99 price is close to a token, and pairing it with “free with any purchase” suggests Rockstar wants the poster to pull fans into its store. Collectors who keep every GTA map will likely grab the physical one anyway. Everyone else can wait for the free download and decide after seeing the full map of Leonida.
GTA 6 launches November 19 at midnight local time on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which is 11 p.m. CT on November 18. For pre-load times and the 212 GB file size, see our GTA 6 pre-load guide.
